I have a sometimes problem where my system just seems to slow way down.
Symptoms are:
When I move the mouse, there is a hesitation before the cursor starts to
move.
I am doing some VBA programming in Excel. When a message box is
displayed, I will get 5 or 6 rapid pings, rather than just the normal one.

Re-booting does not seem to help on a consistant basis.

I have shut down all other applications except Norton Antivirus and Internet
Security.

I'm running XP home version. Dell Desktop 356 megs memory.
When I'm doing my Excel VBA work I have 4 workbooks open.

I don't know what to do next to try and eliminate the problem, or where
to look.

Help.

Thanks,

Norton does slow down systems, as it scans the poop out of everything. Have
you also checked for a possible virus or malware issue. Norton does not find
it all. How much stuff do you have on your harddrive? If you are over 30%,
you need to remove stuff...

Hi Zen and thanks,
I have two hard drives, C and D. Windows resides on D, which is 40 gig and
is 25% full. I'll check on the C drive. "By over 30%" I assume you mean more
than 30% used. Correct?
Thanks again.
