SyncBack v3.2.5 [1.72 MB]

SyncBack is our flagship freeware program that helps you easily backup
and synchronise your files to: the same drive; a different drive or
medium (CDRW, CompactFlash, etc); an FTP server; a Network; or a Zip
archive.

InstallSpy v2.0 [1.23 MB]

This is not spyware, but a program to help you discover spyware! Track
any and all changes to the registry and file system, and also record all
shell notification events (e.g. media inserted), when a program is
installed, uninstalled, or run. This can warn you of programs trying to
install new services, programs that are set to run on reboot, changes to
your home page, etc. It's a highly configurable program that allows you
to catch any change to your system. Filtering lets you zoom down to the
details that are most important to you.

FingerPrint v2.1.3 [1.46 MB]

A utility to see if any files in one or more directories have been
created, deleted, or changed since the last scan. It's useful for
checking if a program, e.g. viruses and trojans, has changed your
all-important Windows files (this is similar to such security software
as Tripwire). The use of MD5 checksums guarantee detection of file
changes. FingerPrint can also be used to find duplicate files, search
for files with a specific MD5 value, and save MD5 values to file (and
compare with). A command line version is also included.

I have been using SynchBack for a couple of years. It's been taking care
of all my back-up needs (including 2 successful restores!). What I really
like about SynchBack is that I actually understand what it's doing and
thereby able to set it up to do what I need without hours of testing and
tweaking. Most other back-up solutions have all these options that I never
truly understand the consequence of choosing (incremental, differential,
circular logging, trackmode, blah blah). With SynchBack I can easly get
what I need: A mirror of folders on another drive which is always current,
no more, no less. Again, it's the time put into an intuitive user
interface coupled with carefully chosen options that makes this program so
great.

On top of this SynchBack is more than just a back-up tool. It can do all
kinds of custom synchornization between folders and drives.

No, they didn't pay me to say this. Their software just saved my a** a
couple of times. That's worth some praise in my book.. :)

Use it myself and I agree. One of the failings of many freeware programs is
that they are written in technese and i can't for the life of me figure out
wth is going on. To all that write DOS cmd level and technese programs, God
love you anyway.
