Intellipoint Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 4000

I just bought a PC with Vista Basic preinstalled.
I downloaded the latest Intellipoint drivers from Microsoft for this mouse.

But the left hand side zoom button doesn't work.
There is no option to configure it in control panel.

Under hardware I only have a "HID - compliant mouse" not the model I have.
Is this just a product that's not supported yet?

If the Intellipoint software is installed, you may have to use Device
Manager to direct it to the correct driver for the Optical Mouse 4000.
Double-click on HID - compliant mouse, choose Update Driver on the Driver
tab. Click on "Browse my computer for driver software," then "Let me pick
from a list of device drivers on my computer". Uncheck "Show compatible
hardware" if you don't see your mouse listed, then locate Microsoft under
Manufacturer, and choose your correct model, before clicking Next...

There are no driver options for the Wireless mouse 4000.
So I geuss it's not supported under Vista?

Ah well, maybe by SP2 it'll all work.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Oh yes (as I said in tmessage title Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical
Mouse 4000) I downloaded that package that claimed to be for the mouse I
have. English, 32-bit.
It didn't seem to install drivers for the mouse it claimed to support.
When I try to update the HID compliant mouse driver, the Wireless Notebook
Optical Mouse 4000 was NOT in the list of drivers installed on my PC.

Is this the Wireless NOTEBOOK optical mouse 4000?
If it is there ARE Vista drivers (6.1).

Scroll down and this mouse is listed.

Thank-you. It took me a while to find this answer and link to a
driver.

A straight google search turned up lots of false leads - as did a
direct visit to the micosoft site.

Some oblique insite led me to search google groups!
