intellipoint 4.1

I have a Microsoft wireless optical mouse which came with
intellipoint 4.1. With 4.1 installed on Windows 2000
professional
and Office 2000 the wheel works properly when scrolling
up and down in the Visual Basic Editor. However, when I
installed
Windows XP Pro with Office 2000 it does not. I bought a
new Microsoft wireless optical mouse, the one with the
tilt wheel, and
it too does not scroll vertically but does horizontally.
I installed Intellipoint 5.0 which came with the mouse and
also had no
positive effect. I tried installing 4.1 on XP but it does
not seem to supercede the Intellipoint that came with XP.
It seems to me
that running Microsoft software, XP, Office, and
Intellipoint, with Microsoft Hardware, wireless optical
mouse, should not produce
erroneous results with no apparent work around.

You need to un-install Intellipoint 5 before re-installing Intellipoint 4.1.
Also, I know that you will have to also edit the registry manually in order
to remove all traces of Intellipoint 5. I do not know which registry keys
to edit for I have not install version 5 yet.

BTW: Intellipoint software does not come with XP. XP just has the base
mouse drivers.

I do know that the Intellipoint 4 drivers do work with XP Pro and Office
2000. It is just that your Intellipoint drivers may have both version
5/version 4 files/settings in your Windows that it is now confused??
