intellipoint mouse and XP pro

I installed xp pro fresh install on my machine with an
Intellipoint cordless mouse. When xp installed it loaded
the intellipoint 5.0 drivers which have a problem with the
scroll functions in visual basic. either side to side or
updown not both. but with intellipoint 4.1 the operations
work correctly. In windows 2000 with the 5.0 drivers the
same thing occurs with losing the scrolling ability with
the wheels. Any Ideas? ( I tried to roll back driver and
it would not let me. or would not let me install 4.1
drivers)

XP does not install Intellipoint 5 drivers. You may have installed the
Intellipoint drivers/software during your initial install.

Intellipoint 5 have several features that had been remove. A lot of people
have had problems with 5 and also treid to go back to 4. None were ever
succesfully, without doing a complete re-format/re-install of XP.

However, hope is not lost! A couple of days ago, someone posted a MS
knowledgebase article which suggested a "patch" exists. Also, someone else
had posted the MS will be correcting the version 5 shortly.

I disagree about dropping back to Intellipoint 4.2. There have been
countless reports of users going to v 4.2 successfully. In any case,
removing the mouse from device manager and deinstalling the Intellipoint
5 software should permit an installation of 4.2 - just the same as
removing any other driver/software combination, which works in XP.
