Instructions Needed: Removing Recovery Console From Win XP SP2 Hom

Would appreciate any assistance provided in removing the Recovery Console
from my pc. My OS is Windows XP SP2 Home edition. On this site, I could
only find instructions for XP and XP SP1.

The console was installed during the process of ridding pc from a Virtumonde
occurance. At present, the console displays at Start up and the monitor
flickers. This has been a bit annoying.

Boot.ini is available for editing from Start orb, type
MSCONFIG
The boot.ini tab will have an Edit button.
You want to remove the line for the RC, and be sure the default= line is
right for your OS startup.
After a restart the console files can also be removed.

Just remove the entry from boot.ini and delete the cmdcons folder

BTW: I can't imagine the instructions for sp2 being any different from sp1
though

First, go to the Control Panel and double click Folder Options.
Click on the View tab.
In the Advanced settings box, make sure "Show hidden files and folders" is
selected.
Click OK.
Next, open you C drive in My Computer or Windows Explorer.
Right click on the folder named cdmcons.
Select Delete from the menu.
Next, go to Start -> Run end enter msconfig in the Open box.
In the System Configuration Utility, click on the BOOT.INI tab.
On the BOOT.INI page, hit the "Check All Boot Paths" button.
You should see a message asking if you want to remove
"c:\CMDCONS\BOOTSECT.DAT="Microsoft Windows Recovery Console" /CMDCONS.
Hit the Yes button.
Restart your computer to see if the issue is fixed.
