i am having problems installing a program and the errors lead to an
installshield issue. apparently installshield is a part of windowsXP so the
instructions for manually reinstalling it are not provided on the
installshield website. how can i use XP to repair this? i have tried sfc
/scannow to no avail and am not sure what to do next aside from an OS
reinstall. dont want to do that. help!!

thankyou

Since the first message i have tried re-registering the windows
installer by using "msiexec /regserver".

Then i tried re-installing the windows installer by renaming the damaged
files and reinstalling the app. None of the three files were found when i
tried to rename them even though they do exist in both system32 and
system32/dllcache. They are msi.dll, msiexec.dll and msihnd.dll.

After this i tried the next step of installing InstmsiW.exe for
winNT/2000. Wrong OS version it said. I knew that.

any ideas how to repair this very important problem?
