installing xp upgrade on new hard drive

The original hard drive crashed. The PC came with xp home
addition. We bought Windows XP pro. The recovery from HP
is on the crashed drive. What do I need to do to install
on the new drive.

You can try installing to the new harddrive from your recovery CD but more
than likely that image file is on the other drive as you mentioned and it
wont work. You can do a clean install to the new drive using the XP Pro CD
if it hasnt been installed anywhere else.
