I've a situation where one of my older laptop's CD-ROM has died. I have 6
set bootable floppies which I can use to boot up the system but after that I
want to use the shared CD-ROM from my workgroup to finish the installation.
I could not find any resource on the technet which talks about installing XP
Pro from the network or shared CD-ROM.

Thanks,

You cannot use the Windows boot floppies for this because they cannot
access the network. Your best bet is to boot to DOS, get the network
running, map your install share, and then use the winnt.exe (DOS)
installer (under the i386 folder on the CD-ROM).

See <http://unattended.sourceforge.net/> for a system which automates
most of this for you. Or do a Google search on "Bart's boot disk" and
"winnt.exe".
