Installing XP home edition

Can anyone help either remove a partial installation of
Windows XP home edition or
complete installation.

My computer now has Widows 2000Pro. I tried installing XP
from a CD using the Install
option form the XP menu. I did so while in 2000Pro.
After partial installation an error
resulted "Fatal error -- one of the components needed
could not be found --
I:\I386'asms\1000\MSFT\Windows\GDIPlus.man" on line 0."
The component is SXS.dll.
(I: is drive for CDROM). Now I have two operation system
options -- XP and Pro but
XP will not start -- continues with set-up which can not
be done due to the error. Pro
seems to perform without problem.
The computer has a Athalon 600MZ processor. There is
adeqate disk space.

Greetings --

It's not possible to perform an in-place upgrade of Win2K to WinXP
Home. (WinXP Pro would have worked, thought.)

Simply boot from the WinXP installation CD. You'll be offered the
opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part of the
installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of boot
devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)
