I am purchasing a new PC. It will have XP Home Edition on it. I have MS Word
2000 on CD from my prior computer package. Can I install MS Word 2000. In
orther words will XP support Word 2000 or do I need to purchase a newer
edition?

It will install! :)

Word 2000 is compatible with Windows XP. If your copy of Word 2000 came
preinstalled on your old computer, you probably aren't allowed to
install it on another computer. If you have a retail copy of Word 2000
that you purchased separately from your computer, you can probably
install it on your new computer. Read your End User License Agreement
(start Word and click on Help | Contents | Microsoft Word | End User
License Agreement) to see what terms apply to your copy of Word.

When I installed Word 2000 on XP-Professional, I find I am unable to save
documents to my CD-RW. I have a Compaq Presario and I never had any such
problems with Windows ME. Any suggestions on correcting this problem? Thanks.
