Installing WinXP Pro on 64bit hardware

I have a question concerning installing WinXP Pro onto 64bit hardware. I
have a few peripherals (like everyone else) that don't yet have compatible
WinXP x64 drivers. HP PSC 1210v, all Logitech Input Devices (Keyboard, Mouse,
Webcam).

Is it fully compatible??? Will I notice performance increase over my old
32bit hardware??? I have just ordered the mobo, CPU, vid, and RAM so I
haven't been able to install them and test for myself, I wonder if anyone
else out there has accompished doing this successfully.

Thank you for your time.

If you have an AMD Athlon64 or Intel EM64T processor, yes, the 32-bit
version of WinXP Pro will work just fine. If you have an older Intel
Itanium or Itanium II processor, you'll have to use the 64-bit version
of WinXP Pro that was specifically designed for those CPUs.

There will be a very slight performance increase, but using a 32-bit OS
on 64-bit hardware means that you're essentially hobbling the computer.
Of course, at this point in time, it makes very little difference, as
there are currently so very few 64-bit applications to go along with the
64-bit OS.
