Installing WindowsXP on multiple PCs

I was considering buying the full version of Windows XP,
but before I did I was trying to find out if I would be
able to install it on all 3 of my home computers?
Meaning I just pay the one time price of the staggering
what is it $300 and if after I do this if I would be able
to use that one copy and install it on both my Desktop and
2 laptops? I searched the web but couldn't find any info
on this subject but I've heard rumors that you can't.

The Windows XP End-User License Agreement states you may
install only one (1) copy of Windows XP on one (1) computer.

If you wish to install additional copies Windows XP, you'll need to
purchase additional licenses, otherwise Product Activation will fail.
You'll then be prompted to call Microsoft to purchase a new
license so you can activate XP.

Read your Windows XP End-User License Agreement:

Start > Run and type: WINVER , and hit enter.

It clearly states that you may only install one (1) copy
of Windows XP on just one (1) computer. You will
need a new license (Product Key) for each new
installation on a different computer.

Also, open XP's "Help and Support" and type: EULA
and click on "Questions and Answers about the
End User License Agreement".

If all three computer already have operating systems, you could buy the
upgrade for all three for about $300.

You are correct, only one PC per license. I have read that
the new Windows 2003 license will rectify this and allow
three installs per license. So you will be albe to load
your desktop, laptop and one more unit. Of course I have
not hear the price yet, so it could be $600 per license :)
