In 2003 my dealer recomended replacing Windows 98 with Windows XP. He did so,
but I found several of my programs would not run in XP, so I took out (&
kept) the XP & put in my old Windows 98. Now I'm going to buy a new computer
& install my XP that I bought in 2003. Any problems doing this?
George.

I assume you're going to be buying a computer without Windows?

Thank you JoAnn: No. I will be going to my original dealer & asking him to
install it for me into the computer I shall buy from him. Is that OK? George.

It sounds like you need to talk to your dealer and find out what he
can/can't or will/won't do. If he is willing to do it, make sure you get SP2
installed before you bring it home.

I take it you have given up or upgraded those programs that prevented you
from using XP in the past? The only problem I ever had with XP was with the
Visioneer scanner I owned at that time. I already knew it wasn't supported
but I did try to make it work before I sold it to a friend.

Thanks for the information, JoAnn. Yes I've upgraded Word & Excel & some
others, but not ACAD R14. Do you know anything about that & XP?

Oh yeah! Runs just fine. (Spent 22 yrs as a drafter, last 7 using CAD.
Husband still does. Verified it with him. He just said to tell you that if
you plan on getting upgrades down the road, do it now. They are about to
stop using R14 as a qualifying product. He says within the next couple of
months.)
