Installing Windows XP Professional over another Installation of XP Pro

I Installed Windows XP Professional over another
installation of XP Professional. Both copies were from
the same CD-ROM. I was helped to get my Outlook Express
files and addresses recovered plus My Document files. The
only problem that I now have is that all my software
(Norton's Anti Virus, Microsoft Office etc.) is visible
in my drive but I cannot access it. Does this mean that I
must re-install all this software or is there some way to
renew the links?
Thanks in anticipation.

Hi, John.
For programs that are not working - reinstalling them would be in order.

Before doing that, find the main executable for a program and double click
on it. If the program launches and runs okay, you do not need to reinstall
it. If you want a new shortcut for it, right click on the file that you
just double-clicked and select Send To> Desktop [as a shortcut]. You can
copy/paste or cut/paste that newly created desktop shortcut to whatever
location(s) is most convenient for you.
