Installing win2k to d: drive

M

Mike

Hi,
I am having trouble installing windows to a new hard
drive I bought. I can use both hard drives at the same
time (c: is the old, d: is the new). Can I install
windows 2k to the d: drive at all? Any help is greatly
appreciated. Thank you.

Respectfully,
Mike

Yes, either boot the Windows 2000 install CD-Rom or setup disks. The set of
four install disks can be created from your Windows 2000 CD-Rom; change to
the \bootdisk directory on the CD-Rom and execute makeboot.exe (from dos) or
makebt32.exe (from 32 bit) and follow the prompts installing to the
unallocated space on the new drive.

Mike - depending on your reasons for wanting to place the 2 systems on
different hard drives, you might want to consider a 3rd party boot
manager that can hide the unbooted system partition(s) during any given
session, making each system invisible to and untouchable by the other,
while allowing full access to other partitions to either system.

As Dave says, you can certainly do what you asked about.
