Installing various applications on Windows XP x64

I recently purchased and installed Windows XP x64 and have had nothing but
heartache and grief trying to reinstall other applications that ran fine on
Windows XP. I cannot reload Verizon DSL, Nestscape Navigation 8 or 9,
Earthlink broadband, Norton 2006 Firewall, and a host of other applications.
What in the world is going on?

The problem with trying to run a 64-bit operating system is that a lot
of 32-bit applications won't run on it. For help with XP x64, post in
the newsgroup specifically for it:

microsoft.public.windows.64bit.general

Contact the manufacturers of those specific programs and see if they have 64
bit versions available.
