Cannot install XP on computer

Gaby

I am trying to install XP on my computer.,,Im running Windows 200
Professional.
At my college I purchased a Windows XP Professional (x64 edition).
I keep getting the message "Attempting to load a x64 operating system.
Computer not compatible with x64 mode. Please install a 32 bit x86
operating system"

Is there anything I can do to fix it. This is the only version I can
buy from college. It only cost $10. I dont want to have to purchase
Windows XP from a store at full price.

Return your 64-bit version and get the 32-bit version.

You bought the wrong version. You have a 32-bit computer and can *not* run a
64-bit operating system on it. There is nothing to "fix" and no way around
it. You need to either change the computer or the operating system.

If you are a college student, you qualify for and should be able to buy and
use an academic version of 32-bit XP. These are sold at significantly lower
prices than the full retail prices. Talk to the people at your school store.

In that case, you will have to buy a PC with a 64bit processor instead.
What college might you be going to?
