Installing Updates...

Hi,

My wife's laptop has downloaded some Critical Windows Updates, and a little
tray icon is present inidicating they are ready to install, however on
selecting to install the dialog box which appears does nothing at all, the
progress indicator shows nothing, so after a couple of attempts, including
re-downloading the patches manuallyI am forced to cancel, but to no avail,
so I am forced to end the task from the task manager, but it doesn't
respond, so I have to reboot.

We have Anti-Virus (including a weekly scan) and Internet Security, both of
which auto LiveUpdate so I am wondering how any undesirables have gotten
thro...

Any ideas anyone?
