Installing Updates

Simple home user has two problems:
Would like to install the latest updates but XP Service
Pack 1 requires I "disable" my anti-virus program or
service pack might not install correctly. Did not know you
could do that. How is that done without deleting (Trend
P'cillin)?

Is there an icon for it in the systray (clock area)?
Right click the icon and click the option to disable, turn off.

Otherwise open it, click Help and determine proper procedure of
disabling.
