installing updates

When I attempt to install critical updates the
installation part of the process doesn't occur even
though the download was quick. I've tried several times
over several days with the same result. I've tried to
install Service Pack 1 without success and I've excluded
Service Pack 1 and tried to load other critical updates
with the same result.

generally installing update critical ones from windows
update site is good but takes a lot of time.
1) wuindows update downloads patch to a temp folder of hdd
any location
2) after downloading it shows you the progess bar of
installation at that time itself.
3) If you you have maunally choosen to select that update
then you will be shown a progress bar
3) the hiiden riddle is that ms intslls crtical ptaches
and fixes in one go in silent mode foeex q832890.exe /q/x
so no progess bar is shown.
