Installing the cluefinders cd

I cant install the cd. It wont come up automatically and when I do it thru
RUN it gives the message: 'The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS
and microsoft windows applications? My file system is NTFS. I have SP2.

Is this a DOS or Windows program? (not personally familiar with it.) Is this a recently published program?

It is a Windows, sorry I'm a bit ignorant what is the difference betwwen Dos
and Windows? The programm is put out by The Learning Co. It is recent I
think. It says on the cover windows XP compatible, which is what I have. Our
hard drive was replaced a while back but we have installed other games eg:
Chessmaster 8000

Couple of suggestions. Use Windows Explorer, look at this CD's contents, find & review the Readme file.

Look at section titled "Auto Play : Enable" at Kelly's website

I tried your suggestion on Kellys Korner but nothing happened. The messge
that comes up when I try to install it has c:\windows\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT.
The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and microsoft windows. I
think it has something to do with the NT. When I looked in properties in my
c: it has NTFS as my File System?

Try this..
Copy the autoexec.nt file from C:\Windows\Repair to
C:\Windows\System32.
And set Attributes for autoexec.nt to Read-only.

Regardless of your system using NTFS, the problem is elsewhere, and it has to do with the setup process of this "Cluefinders".
DID you find a Readme file? I'm trying to get you to find the setup (install) directions.

There is still an issue of whether Cluefinders is a DOS or a Windows program. The error message you have "tends" to point to it being a DOS program.

Bring up Windows Explorer, see if your Windows folder is at C:\Windows or if it is at \WINNT

Next, very carefully, use Notepad to take a look at contents of Autoexec.NT (which is at C:\Windows\System 32 or C:\WINNT\System32).
