Installing Programs w/Vista

Help! I feel like an idiot, but I just cannot seem to figure out how to
install downloaded or CD source software and programs. What am I missing?
XP was so simple and intuitive, but I'm having problems figurying out Vista
 
You have to have admin rights, make sure UAC is set to allow you to OK
installs.
Other than that, it is pretty straightforward. Just like XP, Start the
installer & follow the prompts.
