Installing New Vista loses Roxio and Norton Antivirus

I installed Vista as an upgrade to XP. After the upgrade, I had the program
Roxio which I never had before. I only had Nero. It also installed Norton
Antivirus, which was not installed on my computer. After the upgrade, I was
having problems with some of my programs, so I decided to reinstall Vista,
but this time as a Clean installation on my hard drive...I did not use the
upgrade feature. Now, neither of these programs are installed even though I
used the same installation CD. I was trying to figure out why this is. I
feel cheated out of these two programs simply because I did not upgrade. Can
anyone help with this or can we begin a discussion as to why this has
occurred.

Well you can't feel cheated by something you never had. Heaven only knows
where Roxio and Norton came from. If you purchased a copy of Vista from any
retail outlet or online as a Full retail version or an upgrade version (as
you have done a clean install, i'm assuming you have a full retail copy?)
you received Windows Vista and 'only' Windows Vista. The Vista DVD doesn't
come bundled with Roxio or Norton.

The CD I got was an upgrade CD sent to me by HP. I never had Roxio or
Norton before, yet is was installed with the Vista upgrade CD. Maybe I
should address HP with this problem, then.

Are there any other disk that came with your computer? The might have Roxio
and Norton on them. My sistem in-laws Dell cam with Roxio and McAfee on
separate CDs, but the Vista OS came on a DVD.

The 'HP' part was lacking in your last post. In that case it is possible
that HP have 'added' Roxio and Norton to their Vista Image. As i said in my
previous post, If you had purchased a 'boxed' full version or upgrade of
Microsoft Vista the all you would get is Vista. Microsoft doesn't add things
like Roxio or Norton to an operating system DVD.

HP and other OEM (original equipment manufacturer) do add additional
software to the image that they provide customers of their products and, in
this case, if Roxio and Norton were available after an 'upgrade' then one
would expect them to be available on a full install.

I think, in this instance, you would be wiser contacting HP technical
support. Although HP do use a third party support agency they should be
aware of what is and what isn't available on the updated DVD HP sent to you
and should, hopefully, be able to give you guidance. Whether or not the
technical support guidance will be of any use to you is another matter.
After dealing with HP over the last week regarding something as simple as a
printer driver and having had six different technician with 6 entirely
different responses, with the 6th one telling me 'they don't have an updated
driver', something the first one could have told me instead of me wasting
valuable time following thier so called step by step instructions, i'm
afraid HP and I are not on the best of terms with each other. But, give them
a try and see what they say.
