Installing onto slave drive

Samantha

Hi, I had recently purchased an 80GB drive. I was using
it as a secondary drive but would like to use it as my
primary drive. I am currently running XP on the old C:
drive (10GB) and just purchased XP to install onto the
80GB drive. When I tried to boot from CD, on the 80GB
drive, setting on master, it said "ntldr" not found. So
I switched it all back and tried to install from XP on
the 10GB but it wouldn't let me. Could anyone offer some
assistance?

Thank you so much.

your new drive should have come with installation software. This contains a
couple files XP need s to recognize it so it can load its OS. If you've
been using it as a slave, this might not have been done. What did you buy?
Maxtor, Western Digital? go to the manufacturer site and look for downloads
if you don't have the disc.
