New XP Install on New Primary Drive

I have XP Pro running fine on a 60GB drive. I want to add
a 10GB drive (from a decommisioned PC) and use it as the
primary for XP, Program Files, etc. I'll use the current
drive as a secondary drive for large files.

Assuming installation of XP Pro goes OK on the 10GB
primary drive, how do I remove XP from the 60GB secondary
drive? I want to avoid formatting the 60GB drive if
possible.

Thanks.

The only way to uninstall Windows XP Professional
is to reformat the drive it was installed on.

Install the 10 gig drive as the primary master, leave the 60 gig drive
disconnected. Run setup by booting from the XP CD. After setup is completed
you can reconnect the 60 gig drive. Boot into Windows you can now delete the
Windows, Files and Settings, Program Files folder and the root files on the
old drive. See link below for a list of files you can delete on the old
drive.

Remove a dual boot.

Assuming:
1.You install the hardware correctly - Reconfigure 60Gb as primary slave or
secondary master, setup 10Gb as primary slave. Set jumpers and cable
connections for this.
2.Carry out a successful install of XP on the 10Gb drive
3.Complete an installation of all your application software for the new XP
system
4.Configure Internet access, email accounts etc.
5.Move Data from 60Gb to 10Gb drive where required
6.All is running as you expect and want

You can then 'delete' the Windows folder and Programme Files Folder [if not
used for 'new' configuration and any system files from the old windows on
60Gb drive.

Maybe an easier way is not to raise the bridge but lower the river. You
will be better off for this anyway. Your 10Gb drive has inferior performance
to the 60Gb - just part of the improvements that come with newer technology.
So why not simply move all your data files off the 60Gb drive to the 10Gb
drive and give yourself some extra spce on the 60Gb unit.

Use power toys tweak UI to change the 'My Documents' folder over to the 10Gb
drive.

SO MUCH EASIER!
