It would help if you could be more specific about what you cannot do.
Can you open the CD? Is the information there? When you click it, does
something not happen, or does something happen but then crashes? What old
version? MSDOS? Windows 3.1? Windows 95? 98?
Even without knowing the answers to these, some possibilities spring to
mind, you could open the file using the command prompt, but if you don't know
how to use the command prompt, well that could be useless. I encourage
everyone using windows to learn how to use the command prompt, but usually
one can get along without it.
SP2 is known to carry a few bugs, so if this really becomes a problem, you
can always just uninstall SP2, it wouldn't be that much of a loss.
Another potential problem is that the CD might be old, dusty, or scratched
considering it's age, and that might make the CD less functional.
Check how dusty or scratchy the CD is, if it is dirty, just take a damp
paper towel, and rub it off, then let it dry before putting it back in. If
that doesn't work, try opening the files with command prompt, and if that
doesn't work, well, be a bit more specific, and if no one replies, it
wouldn't hurt that much just to uninstall SP2. Not that much of a sacrifice
in my opinion.
