Installing Office XP

I am attempting to install Office XP on a compaq deskpro.
During the installation, the screen will go black. The
installation screen does not come back. I have to
reboot. What could be causing this conflict?

At what step of the setup does this happen? Is there anything logged to the
Event Viewer? What operating system are you using?
