Hi. Im new to the board. I found it while I was doing a Google search for
the problem I have. It seems to be a great site with a lot of useful info.
I will be back.

But anyway, here's my problem.

I was online Saturday afternoon and I got booted off after being on for about
10 minutes. Once I tried to sign back on to Compuserve (im using dialup) a
box appears in the top left hand corner saying "Installing Network Adapter
Files" after that the Compuserve program loads. When I go to sign on, the
modem dials, but then freezes when it gets to the "Connecting" step.

I'm running Windows XP Home Edition. Its not a problem with the AOL software.
Because I am not able to connect to the Internet via my UPS Online shipping
program that I use for my business (That program is telling me there is no
modem installed and when I go into the control panel for my PC, I don't see
any installed either) I also tried buying a new modem and replacing it, and
it has been doing the same thing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

John

Have you tried another slot in your PC to make sure it isn't the pci slot ?
also have you recently gone to a digital phone service , the reason i ask is
when i worked at this one company we switched to a digital phone service and
had problems with it blowing the modems out because the voltage was to hight
for the modems to handle, just some things to look at.

Mike,
I did try using another pci slot. i thought that could have been the problem
too. But I had the same results.
Thanks for the reply.
