Installing Epson C64 USB Problem

R

Rob Chiverton

I've just bought an Epson C64 which works ok on the serial port but windows
does not recognise it on the usb port. The USB port is working ok with my
digital camera. I have tried the Epson helpline but their suggestions have
not worked so far. If anyone has had problems installing any Epson on the
USB port and overcome it, please let me know how you did it.
Thanks
Rob

I only installed on the serial port as the software could not find the
printer on the usb port and so installed itself on the serial port. Plus I
wanted to find out if the printer really worked or not.

I had the same problem with my epson C64 when i first got it, now i
have it working with usb just fine this is what i was told to do

Step 1 Uninstall driver software

Step 2 on the driver cd open the 'english folder' then the 'win9x'
folder then double click the file in there named 'epusbun.exe' follow
any on screen prompts.

Step 3 Switch the computer off (make sure printer is switched off and
the usb cable is disconnected from the back of the printer)

Step 4 Switch on the computer and install driver software when the
onscreen message appears saying that it is looking for a connection or
something like that connect the usb cable to the back of the printer
and switch on the printer it should then let you install it using the
usb connection.

The above information was tried on windows 98

i hope this helps you as this gave me quite a lot of trouble to sort
out and i can now use both usb or parallel to print

du.

Thanks for your help. The Epson helpline actually gave me all this advice
already and it still didn't work so one of the Epson people is going to talk
me through a problem with the registry which he is convinced that is causing
the problem.

Does it say in the Epson manual then to check your registry files then as
that is what I have been told the problem is. My previous printer installed
fine so don't insult people when you don't know all the facts.

It does say that the C64 connects on the parallel port.
Don't insult people if you don't know your ports.
