Installing Access 97 in Windows XP System

Scott

I installed Office 97 on to my new Compaq laptop running
XP. I then attempted to install Access 97 upgrade, but
it will not install. I get an error message saying I do
not qualify for the upgrade (it is not recognizing Office
97 that I have installed). I did not have this problem
on my previous 2 computers which ran Windows 98 &
Millenium. Anyone know anything about this? Thanks.

Installing an Upgrade version usually requires that you have an *older
version* product installed on your computer. It is possible that you were
able to install your Upgrade Version of Access 97 on your Win 98 and ME
computers because there was such an older product already installed on them.
Look through your older software and if you have installation media for some
older Office/Access products, these may work for you.

With some of these pre-installed Windows versions, the
registry comes to you with pre-installed errors. You
should be able install the Access upgrade if you let it
check the Office 97 CD instead of searching the hard disk.
