installing 2 copies of xp on a laptop

Hi all,I want to install 2 copies of XP Pro on my laptop so I can keep 2
users completly seperate,IE My daughter and myself.

I know how to do this operation but I am unsure if I need 2 copies of the
program? Or if it is on the same machine can I use the same copy of XP? Also
would the updates work the same etc on either boot copy?

Many thanks.

Hi

You would have to purchase a 2nd copy of XP for two installations on one
machine. Updates would have to be separately installed. You would have to
partition the hard disk and then boot to one of the installations every time
you or your daughter needs to use the laptop.

Thanks for taking the time to reply Will.

I know about the hard disk patitioning etc but TY.

If it is on the same machine, and you can only use 1 copy at a time, I think
it is unfair to have to but another copy. I think I did read somewhere that
you could put the same copy on a desk top and laptop and this is OK?

If that is the case, I have another leagal copy on my desk top so this could
be transfered to my laptop too. Hope thats clear?

Robin.

Hi

Legally you need one copy of XP for every hard disk/ partition. The EULA
explains it. From Start>Run type

eula.txt
