Installiation problems

I am having trouble upgrading from win 98se to win xp pro.
I am at the point in installiation where windows is
starting installiation. I get an error message
saying:"Stop:c0000135{Unable to locate component}
application failed to start winsrv not found- reinstlling
may fix the problem."
Does anyone know what this means and how to fix so i can
continue my upgrade?

Clean boot the machine with msconfig on 98 before starting the upgrade to
make sure all third party applications are shut down. Do you know if the
upgrade.txt had reported any errors?
