installer problem

I have XP home with SP2. I cannot install Adobe reader 8.0. Get error
"windows installer service could not be accessed." Get same message when try
to uninstall Adobe reader 7.0.9.

Your best bet Denise, would be to go to Adobe's web site and look for help
on their forums with this new build of adobe Acrobat. They may or may not
have a solution posted there that will include directions on how to update
windows installer service.

If you can't find anything, you're not out of options. Theres Foxit Reader,
(which I use) and it does the same things Adobe Acrobat Reader will do. Its
less cumbersome of a download, and it installs easy.

I see that there are a lot of posts about windows installer problems, with
the same error I'm getting. It looks to me like this is a problem with
installer, not an Adobe problem.
