Installer error 1923

Logged in as administrator, attempting to install O & O Defrag I get
error 1923 the service cannot be installed, check you have sufficient
permissions"
As the XP Pro system administrator this surprised me.
I then tried ignore (options: abort, retry, ignore) after retry gave the
same error. Installing carried on with a success message as usual.
However when O & O Defrag was run the message the service is not
installed was obtained.

The XP help is no use and microsoft seems not to know what to do about
this installshield/system error.

Can anybody please advise me what exactly to do to circumvent this problem ?

I have at present diskeeper installed as my default defragmenter and was
planning to try out O & O as a possible alternative. (Also thinking
about Perfectdisk 7 from raxco but need to get this problem solved first.

I have of course looked at this page before posting: It's of no help,
merely repeating the error message.
I really require help from someone who has had and solved a similar
problem.

Otherwise I will not progress beyond what i have already
ascertained-which is NILL !
