Installed SP2, Now Error Message Keeps Poppong Up

I just got the CD for XP SP2 in the mail and installed it on my Compaq
Celeron 2.5 GHz Desktop.

I then started getting the [could not find the file "swflash.ocx"] Error
Message every few minutes even when not connected to the internet and
without having an internet browser open.

I then did a search of this newsgroup and learned that I should reinstall
the Shockwave software. I downloaded it from the Macromedia webpage and
installed it into both MS Explorer and Mozilla 1.7 ( I mostly use Mozilla
1.7).

But this didn't help and I still receive the error message all the time.

I then tried uninstalling Shockwave first, then rebooting and reinstalling.
Still I keep getting this stupid error message.

It's making me crazy I tell you!

Does anyone know how I can stop this?

How about checking on the www.macromedia.com support site for issues
related to ShockWave and SP2? It's their product. For example I found
this but there are other articles about SP2 as well:

Yo Rock,

I did find a suggestion on their website that seems to have worked....at
least for the last hour.

For the benefit of anyone else with the same problem, here is what I did:

I used the search function to look for all "swflash.ocx" files on my hard
drive. I found the file in about four different places. I chose the file
with the latest date, copied it and pasted into the [C:\Windows\system32
\macromed\flash] file. There was already a "flash.ocx" file there--I just
added the "swflash.ocx" file. I haven't gotten this error message again
since I did that.....about an hour ago. Thank goodness.....it was driving
me crazy.
