Installed fax mail transport,(MAPI)

I have installed fax mail transport (MAPI) and made it default to send fax.
Cannot send fax, get message saying that Microsoft does not recognize this
number. How can I send fax thru MS office outlook

That doesn't really tell us anything since Outlook itself doesn't come with any fax transport. Maybe you can tell us how you added it to the mail profile

In Ms outlook went to tools, E-mail accounts, Add new email account,
additional
server accounts, fax mail transport (MAPI)

So, that tells us that you're using the fax software that comes with Windows XP. Given the error message that you're getting, the first thing to check is how you entered the phone number, which should include both the area code and the local number.
