installation problems..

i've been trying to install xp prof on my new computer for a while, haven't had much luck...while copying the setup files to the hard disk (fresh install), for some reason it can't read a few files (the cd seems to be fine). anyway after skiping a few files, the system reboots and when it starts i get the blue screen with an error message. It basically suggests that i restart in safe mode and gives me an error number 'STOP: 0x00000024, 0x001901FD, 0x80A60C08, 0xC0000102, 0x00000000". I've tried intalling different versions of windows, tried swapping hard drives, tried swapping cd drives...any suggestions??
