Installation problem

I have recently tried to install windows XP on a computer
and after i format the harddrive i recieve this message
"Setup was unable to format the partition. the disk may be
damaged.
Make sure the drive is switched on and properly connected
to your computer. If the disk is a scsi disk, make sure
your scsi devices are properly terminated. Consult your
computer manual or scsi adapter documentation for more
information.
You must select a different partition for windows XP"
I do not have any scsi devices installed and i have tried
changing the partition between FAT32 and NTFS.

I had this problem a few months back. I used FDisk and
deleted all extended partitions and active partitions on
the hard drive. I then created a dos partition and told
fdiak to use the entire drive. Remember, using fdisk will
destroy any info on the disk. The XP install will then do
a complete format using either NTFS or FAT32.
Hope this helps.
