installation problem

I have HD1 adn HD 2. HD1 has windows xp on it, path c:, and is NTFS. HD2 is
FAT32, empty and path D:. I'm trying to install windows2k on HD2 D: and it
doesn't happen. After I load from the setup disk, I'm shown all the HDs and
asked to select the one I want to use. I select D: (HD2) but then it tells me
C:\ (HD1) is not formatted or unrecognized. I assume it wants to load some
files on C: before installing on D: and apparently can't cause its NTFS or
whichever it is.

Does anyone know how to go aroung it without formatting C:? Basically I just
want w2k on my HD2. How do I do it perhaps some other way?

I appreciate any help,
Thanks

In XP, go to Control Panel>Computer Management>Disk Management and use the
facility to format D:\ with an NTFS format. You may find the tutorial on
Dual Boot systems in the XP Help & Support menu useful before trying to load
2000 again but at least you'll have the correct format for 2000 to sit on.
