Installation of a new program

It is recommended to close the active programs in order
to install a new program, and not to close Explorer and
Systray going to the Task Manager. It was clear in
previous editions of Windows 95, 98 but in XP the listing
is quite different, explorer appears clearly but there is
no systray. I started to "End Process" of this list but
some of them as soon as press "End Process" would shut
off the whole process. I'd appreciate it if some one
would e-mail to me at least those programs not to "End
Process" because they are in the systray family.

You don't have to "End Process" any processes. Only
applications.

In most cases, despite all the dire warnings, you don't even have
to end applications.

Systray was a Win9x matter, not in XP.

It is normally enough to close all the things which have buttons in the
Taskbar proper - it is really so that the rug does not get pulled from
under while they still have active files open needing to be saved.

Plus go to your Antivirus program and tell it to shut down and not to
start automatically with Windows until you have finished. Even that
step with AV may not be needed with some programs
