installation failure

I've run upgrade advisor. It ID'd a few problems (like my sound card). I
disabled the sound card and deleted problem printer drivers--those problems
no longer pop up in upgrade advisor. However, Instant Messenger and MSN
Explorer still are identified as possible problems> Can I de-activate them?
I do not use MSN as my browser. I've tried updating MSN, and it simply asks
me to start a new account.
Vista gets to the end of the install, gives me a blue screen, then restores
XP. All my hardware now checks out with the upgrade advisor--these two
programs are the only red (yellow) flags. Any suggestions?

Uninstall both Instant Messenger and MSN Explorer (Control Panel, Add/Remove
Programs, Add/Remove Windows Components) before you do your upgrade. Any
info you can give us from the bluescreen will be appreciated.
