Installation Errors

Have upgraded HDD (400GB IDE) and trying to install WinXP Pro (legitimate
OEM) onto the new drive.

Keep getting error messages during the initial file copying stages with
files being unable to be copied from the CD (usually pro_reg5.swf and
shell32.dll but occassionally others).

I've tried installing to an old HDD (20GB) just to see if wasthe HDD but get
same error messages - so I'm guessing the problem to be physical CD - but not
sure how to diagnose the root cause or to get around the problem.

I have also tried creating a slipstreamed XP install CD (incl SP2) in hopes
that this would bypass the issue but same errors encountered (presumably due
to the copy carryng the problem file with it).

I want to avoid having to buy another copy of XP if I can but also want to
determine how I can prove if the issue is the CD.

The issue is more likely to be memory related.
Run an intensive memory test
