install xp pro after home

I have xp Home installed and I want to upgrade to xp Pro.
Is there any particular procedure that I should follow?
I do not want to format my disc and start all over
installing all my application software.
 
The retail version of XP PRO, will upgrade Home Edition without losing any
programs.
When installing it, be sure to select Upgrade and not Clean Install.
 
I have a corrupted version of XP home. If I upgrade to
pro will it fix my system files?
