I run XP fine on my Satellite 1800 which is a similar vintage. It has a 733
Celeron but i've expanded memory to 256mb. It's not the fastest machine, but
it's ok for surfing, email. Sure it'd be fast enough to run itunes.

Should be no problem putting XP on that laptop. It came standard with a
Celeron Mobile 500 MHz processor and 128MB of RAM. See these sites on
upgrading to WinXP for more useful information and guidelines:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/home/upgrading/default.mspx

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/home/upgrading/sysreqs.mspx - recommended
and minimal system requirements

Make sure you have the latest BIOS and device/hardware drivers for that
system first:
