Install Windows on a DVD

This is more curiosity than anything else, but would it be possible to
install and run Windows on a DVD? Since it would be write protected,
there could be no swap file, but I'm curious if it could be done.

No. Windows also needs to be able to write to the registry files and
some others (logs and the like) and will not run from read-only media
