Install: "viaide.sys corrupted" and locating Product ID

I am trying to install XP Professional. I get a message "the file viaide.sys
is corrupted." Also, when I try to use the email support system it asks for
the Product ID. I found directions for finding the ID if your XP is running,
but mine is not. Any help will be appreciated
