install recovery console

Presently running xp pro with sp-2
unable to install recovery console. Error wrong version when I try to
install from CD

Hi

If you have upgraded to SP2 and you are using a CD from a previous version
of XP, you will see that error message. To install the Recovery Console in
SP2, you will need to create a slipstreamed SP2 CD.

You can download the SP2 file (266 MBs) from here:

or if you have a copy of the SP2 CD, you can copy the xpsp2.exe file from
that CD onto your hard disk/partition and use that:

OR just go to the Control Panel and uninstall SP2, do your thing and then
re-install SP2.
