install problems with xp professional

i have tried to install xp pro twice and each time it
STOPS or FREEZES at the point where it says 34 minutes
remaining after is has done 3 of the 5 steps and is
locked in "Installing Windows"....this is all being done
after recently installing a new hard drive on my
pc.....HELP! thanks
