install problem

keep getting message...requires minimum win 2000 or xp to run....but i have
2000???? help please?? Downloaded ok but just wont install.

If you are running as an administrator on your Windows 2000 machine, I'd
recommend redoing the download and trying again.

sorry I have no idea...a total novice I'm affraid. Its just my home pc...it
started running real slowly and giving me memory problems...I called my PC
Helpline and they said I had to get spyware installed as they suspected I
have spyware. I have downloaded the software 3 times and it keeps giving me
the same message....but I have win 2000 so why would it think i have an
older version? I have Norton antivirus and firewall which I thought was
supposed to stop this kinda stuff happening??

Neither an antivirus program nor a firewall will prevent installation of
software which you agree to--perhaps as part of a free game or other
software, or as part of the operation of a peer to peer sharing system.

I would recommend temporarily disabling as much of the Norton protective
software as you can--real-time antivirus scanning and the firewall. Unplug
the Internet connection first.

I believe you can turn off most of the parts of their recent apps via the
main panel, and that's what I'd do for long enough to attempt another
install. Basically, shut down as much third-party software as you can,
disconnect from the Internet, and try the install again.
